For the Autumn term our topic is "Invaders and Settlers' where we will learn all about the history of Anglo Saxons and Vikings and the impact they have had on our life in Britain today. We will be learning about where they came from through research and map work and how they settled into Britain, considering their daily routine and what life was like for an Anglo Saxon and Viking!
Children will have weekly spellings and times tables to learn, these will be sent home on a Thursday to allow children to practise, and tested the following Monday. Children are expected to read daily and complete their reading records. Where possible please take the time to read with your child, focusing on their reading comprehension skills. Some weeks children will also have a maths or literacy based task to complete.
Each class will have Outdoor Education with Mr Bean every other Wednesday afternoon, please note that children will need to bring wellies and suitable outdoor clothing. Outdoor education takes place irrespective of the weather so please make sure your child is well equipped!
Children will have PE every Friday afternoon, this term this will take place with Sports Coaching North West. Please ensure children have PE kit and suitable shoes for both indoor and outdoor. PLEASE label all PE kits and school uniform to save us time and you money!
During the spring term, Year 5 will take part in swimming lessons every Thursday at Crew Lifestyle Centre - get your goggles ready!
