Hungerford Primary Academy has additional resourcing for seven pupils with Education Health Care Plans (formally Statements) which identify behaviour as a primary need. These children are integrated into mainstream classes and enjoy access to a full and balanced curriculum. Each of the resource provision children has a key worker, who will be in the classroom to support the child with their emotional and/or social development, and if necessary their academic learning.
There is a resource base in school which is staffed by our special educational needs coordinator Miss Whiston. Children who are part of the resource provision may access the base on a number of levels during the day, perhaps for social time, group work or individual intervention. Miss Whiston’s room is a safe base for the children and is used by many children at play time and lunchtime, when they can utilise many different toys and games.
The children in Resource Provision may access a range of additional intervention programmes that are designed to help them to develop different skills and strategies to manage their behaviour in various situations.
Currently, our resource provision key workers are:
- Mrs J Gartside
- Miss K Frost
- Miss D Lister
- Mrs S Lysons
- Mrs R Astbury
- Mr C Maloney
- Mrs M Carman
Specific staff are generally assigned to each child for the duration of their time at Hungerford Primary Academy. However, on occasions it may be necessary to move staff around. At these times we always give careful consideration to the children and how best to meet their needs.
Places in Resource Provision are allocated by Cheshire East Council Assessment and Monitoring Team. If you feel that your child would be well placed with us then please feel free contact us to discuss their needs and perhaps visit. We plan individual transition programmes for each child and will happily discuss these with you should a place be allocated.
